At our Public Forum on 3rd September 2013, many participants undertook to take action that would help to nurture and grow the entrepreneurial community in Adelaide.

51 pledges were posted to a pledge wall at the back of the room.

These pledges began with the standard wording:

"I believe that our State’s future depends on innovation and enterprise. I am planting a seed in Adelaide’s entrepreneurship “rainforest”. I pledge to: ..."

and included the following undertakings from participants:

Continue to nurture the growth of entrepreneurship in Adelaide by helping to consolidate innovations and to help find appropriated channels and partners for global market access.

Engage within the public sector to promote better understanding and support for entrepreneurship and small business’s vital role in the SA society, economy and its future vibrancy and growth.
~
Join LinkedIn and social network communities relevant to SA entrepreneurs by the end of the week ending 8/9/13
~
Host “ I totally blew it” event on October 3 to address lack of “culture of failure”
~
Present a hard launch of startupadelaide.com at 9 pm 28 September 2013 ( and generally get shit done)
~
Build a deeper understanding of our entrepreneurship ecosystem and help entrepreneurs navigate through the support mechanisms
~
Come to start up weekend
~
Contribute in working groups
~
Help entrepreneurs learn to build and grow successful companies that enable employers to be higher performers and that provide products and services that customer’s love!!!
~
Work in the ‘financing new ventures” group
~
Help create a space where students (high school and Uni) can engage with entrepreneurship
~
Create 3 new quality and sustainable jobs by the end of the financial year, because I am an entrepreneur and that is my job
~
Provide mentorship whenever possible to promote entrepreneurship individually and collectively
~
Get involved in sharing my experience and knowledge with others within Adelaide to take and inspire people to think BIGGER, GLOBAL
~
Keep working towards the successful launch of 1625.com.au and keep going to make it work and influence and contribute to changing entrepreneurial culture in SA
~
Provide a connection between Government and the City of Entrepreneurs (as someone who has lived on both sides of the fence)
~
Continue to foster leadership and facilitate connections within the ecosystem
~
Do everything I can to help our ecosystem to develop and promote its own future to deliver growth, jobs, youth engagement and pride in South Australia
~
Support the growing entrepreneurial community through
  • 1. Providing and fostering education to entrepreneurs
  • 2. Facilitating finance mechanisms for start ups
  • 3. Recognising failures
~
Identify research programmes that will provide information to help build the entrepreneur ecosystem
~
Do all I can to be successful, facilitate the success of those around me, share my journey publically and collaborate with other positive thinkers as much as possible
~
Do what I can to get Uni SA committed to supporting the entrepreneur ecosystem through specific activities
~
Continue trying to demonstrate some of my many innovative ideas and get support for them ( re water supply and renewable energy) for community benefit
~
Join the internet group
~
Keep on talking up Adelaide at every opportunity, here, interstate and overseas to anyone and everyone
~
Offer my networks and skills to entrepreneurs seeking to develop and grow their ideas/ business by volunteering on working groups
~
Educate young people on entrepreneurship as an option for a career pathway.
Personally stop being apologetic for Adelaide
~
To provide potential entrepreneurs with a platform of support and knowledge to START the Dream
~
Act as a link between Uni SA and this ecosystem to bring great ideas “made at Uni SA” to this organisation
~
Get “take one action” into today’s follow up e mail and follow up
~
Participate as a volunteer with a working group
~
Bring the ecosystem to the attention of my organisation's leadership
~
Continue to help empower entrepreneurs to be all that they can be
~
Promote entrepreneurial companies in a constructive way in the water industry and others as I can.
~
Actively promote the work of Adelaide’s entrepreneurs and the people that support them.
~
Actively participate in creating and growing successful technology commercialisation companies within the State
~
Continue to remain connected to Adelaide Entrepreneurs Ecosystem and its “constituents “ active in identifying where my organisation and myself can contribute to its self- sustaining
~
Make connections that encourage movement across the ecosystem and urging positive contributions particularly among our student body
~
Keep showing up
~
Work hard to ensure I collaborate to build entrepreneurial support which complements and builds on existing events/programs and activities
~
Organise and assist in networking opportunities to help innovative businesses connect with each other, learn and thrive
~
Work with early stage companies to help them to grow, raise capital and scale
~
Assist in facilitating the linkages of investors with entrepreneurs and helping create investable companies in South Australia
~
Join a LinkedIn group for entrepreneurs
~
To get shit done!! grow the Majoram Distillery, grow South Start
~
Maintain my commitment to ensuring that business building resources are directed not only towards the IT and resources (mining) sector but conventional tangible enterprises also
~
Bring back ideas from my visit to USA to help develop Fab Lab Adelaide and Mini Maker Faire Adelaide

Create a long term plan with the consultation of stakeholders that will facilitate young entrepreneurs the best way possible by the 17th of October

Condense the map into a 20 minute documentary video on the Startup Adelaide ecosystem
~
Promote local success stories to the entrepreneurial and wider community
